On September 3rd, St. John the Evangelist in Lawrence held a wills and trusts workshop with estate planning attorney, Casey Connealy. These workshops equip the faithful with tips on how to avoid probate and the most important items to consider when creating your estate plan. To bring a workshop like this to your parish, school, or ministry, please contact the Catholic Foundation.
On September 24th, Mother Teresa of Calcutta in Topeka brought Vince Cox in to speak about Estate Planning 101. With over 30 people in attendance, Vince presented best practices in creating your will or trust, and discussed common misconceptions of both. We are blessed to have Vince as one of our featured CFNEK presenters.

The Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas is grateful for the McGurren Family, who have supported all levels of Catholic education for over 30 years. The recently established McGurren Family Endowment is benefiting incoming high school students. This year’s recipients are Amy Wibbenmeyer from St. Thomas Aquinas and Madeline Klien from Bishop Miege. Congratulations to these students! If you are interested in contributing to the McGurren Family Endowment fund, you can make a gift by clicking here, or if you find yourself inspired to create a scholarship endowment, please contact us at cfnek@archkck.org.
The Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas was in Effingham, KS, at St. Ann's Catholic Parish on Sunday, September 7, celebrating the legacy of the parish through the creation of its parish endowment fund. We are grateful to the parish and parishioners who have donated to the endowment fund and those who have made planned gifts to the parish endowment in their estate plans. The Catholic Foundation brought donuts to celebrate. As the Holy Spirit would have it, St. Ann's was also kicking off their CCD classes. The CCD students were excited to take home a challenge coin from the Catholic Foundation. The challenge coin encourages you to turn your eyes and hearts to God by willingly sharing with others your time, talent, and treasures while discerning what your legacy will be. May God continue to bless the St. Ann family for many years to come. What will your legacy be?
