A bequest can take many forms. You may have designated a parish, Catholic school or Catholic organization within the Archdiocese of Kansas as a beneficiary in your will, trust, or as the beneficiary of an asset such as an IRA, annuity or life insurance. You may also designate the your parish or the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas as the recipient of a bank checking or savings account with a “transfer-on-death” or “pay-on-death” designation.
Some people choose to split the beneficiary to leave a portion of one of these assets to charity. If you have already done this, please notify the Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas (CFNEK) of your plans and join the Catholic Legacy Society. You can choose to have your name published, or remain anonymous, but the nature of your gift is always kept in strict confidence. If you would like to add a bequest to your will or trust you may just be looking for the correct bequest language. Bequest language should include the name of the parish, school or organization and the city and state.
